Fernwood Publishing Co., Ltd., has offices in Black Point, Nova Scotia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Since beginning operation in August 1991, we have published over 250 titles, many by first-time authors.

Fernwood Publishing Co., Ltd. publishes books for the university and the trade markets. Our objective is to publish critical works that address social and political issues and that challenge existing ideas. Our main focus is in the social sciences and humanities, with an emphasis on Aboriginal studies, sociology, labour studies, women’s studies, gender studies, political economy, criminology and legal studies, cultural studies, and social work.

Roseway Publishing, an imprint of Fernwood Publishing Co., aims to publish literary work that is rooted in and relevant to struggles for social justice. We are interested in publishing works of fiction, creative non-fiction, biographies and other literary writing that has a social justice theme.
